Blogwhat, when, where have we been hugging those weeds
If you have been attending UK shows for a few years, then its probably time for a road trip and a European VW show. In 2015 myself, Jonny, Hariet and Glen headed over to SPA in Belgium for The Bug Show 2015.
We made a trip of it camping in Brussels one night on the way there and in Bruge on the return journey. But what an awsome trip the sun never stopped shinning and we never stopped grinning, by far the best VW show I have ever attended and would love to go again one year.

Fathers’ Day rolled round quickly this year for the Wolfsburg Weed Huggers VW Club in sunny South Bucks. Their ‘Lazy Day’ free show has become a regular event held on this Sunday every year and this year’s didn’t disappoint. It’s fast becoming the biggest little show around.
The Lazy Day really is a great family day out. Loads of Dads were brought along on their special day for a look around the show cars and for a meal in the Black Horse gastro pub next door. Deimos-sponsored the Kids’ Zone & kept the little ones happy with crafting, football, quiz, a bouncy castle and a bus box parade – and all free!

Kicking off the Summer meets was the VW Expo at Stonor Park. Nestled in the Oxfordshire countryside, it was a beautiful place to experience our first ‘camp-out’ with our bus Archie.
On Saturday afternoon we pulled into a large field that was at the bottom of a large hill, it was quite a stunning setting. During the afternoon more of the Wolfsberg Weedhuggers clan arrived to camp. In total there were approximately 10 campers and a few Beetles and a Ghia or two. We had a lovely afternoon and evening and for Luke and I it was the perfect occasion to get to know everyone better. We talked into the night; BBQ’d a mountain of food and had marshmallow games galore!

This festival was our adventure of the summer, a road trip for two families to the south coast for a week before heading over the Solent to the Isle of Wight. We were heading towards East Afton Farm, the site of the 1970’s Music festival that saw 600,000 visitors (something to rival Woodstock), in the West of the Island near Compton Bay.
Tigi and Trixie pootled over for pre festival camping (Carry on Camping) and enjoyed setting up camp in the 60mph plus tail winds of Hurricane Bertha. The bar was open, the music had started and there was starting to be a real festival atmosphere.
The festival was not officially open until the 14th so we watched the festival being built around us.By the official opening date there were hundreds of flags flying, 3 music stages, bars, yurts, food outlets, a few stalls and crafty tents for the kids and a giant sandpit complete with surfboard and hidden treasure.

Based between Amersham and High Wycombe in sunny South Buckinghamshire, Wolfsburg Weed Huggers have been going from strength to strength of late, increasing in numbers at every monthly meet.
There are no rules with this club, other than that it's for those with VAG cars. So new or old. air or water, you're welcome to come along company, technical advice , a laugh with some fellow VW petrolheads and probably some friendly piss taking!

As with every year, the end of august brings with it arguably the best show of the year, VW Action, held for the last few years at Santa pod Raceway near Wellingborough.
The weekend began with a meet up and club cruise up to the venue on Friday morning, with those less fortunate and having to work catching up later in the day. For some unknown reason, most of us feel compelled to drive up early in the morning to join the Airport road queue, and be able to get on site as early as possible to prolong the weekend. This year we were again allowed in early, and by the time the gates were due to open we had our tents erected, and were already relaxing and settling down into the vibe of “Action 14”.
Friday afternoon and evening are fairly mellow affair, with time spent catching up with old friends and making new ones, and lots of walking round admiring the many different cars both their for racing and driven for pleasure.
