I have owned this beetle since 2011, his name is Gus. I got him as I had just sold my work van and had some cash in my pocket for a ‘practical run around’. He is a little bit on the ratty side, I really have not done much to him at all, just fitted a head unit, speakers and an ariel. Apart from driver error (running out of petrol) he has been good as gold and never lets me down. He has a 1500 engine with a single webber carb. The only thing I would change is the gutter rails or lack of them, I would like a roof rack for weekends away.
Mertle. 1971 camper. 1641cc with high lift cam, twin choke Webber, deep sump. Custom made interior. Shes a work in progress, bless her.
'Wookie' Owned since pre 2005 Started with a 1584 then went to a 1641 for 6 months and now has a 1776 with big heads and duel webers. He sits very low, so low I use to get stranded even on the plastic speed bumps. Pre '67 pannels (all metal), W deck lid, Smiths gauges, cabrio seat and big sound. Just putting some selnoid doors on and will have to repair all the bodges and dings my trusted mechanic made. This nice looking picture is when I first got it and to be honest whe doesnt look as good now as I have been working on her along with a mechanic I tusted who let me down and has distroyed him. So I will have save up and start again.
